Four-year-old kindergarten (4K) continues to grow in Wisconsin with 11 school districts adding programs for the current school year. Statewide 93 percent of public school districts that provide elementary education offer 4K.

How can I register my child for the school year?

The Howard & Suamico 4K program is an optional, one half day – four day per week preschool program, which prepares four-year-olds for school success. An abundance of research supports the value of four-year-old kindergarten for children. The Howard & Suamico 4K is accomplished through a collaborative community approach where programming takes place at many community preschool sites in both villages.  All classes are taught by Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction licensed teachers and the program is supervised by the Howard-Suamico School District.

 

Verification of the following documents must be received prior to placement:

  • Child’s birth certificate or equivalent i.e. passport, hospital birth certificate or complete the Inability to Provide Birth Certificate Form # 5111 F1;
  • Proof of residency (mail that has your current name & address on it. i.e. utility bill);
  • Immunization record;

If you are interested in participating in the Howard-Suamico 4K program, but are not a resident within the Howard & Suamico boundaries, you may open enroll your child.  You will need to complete an Open Enrollment Application online http://www.hssd.k12.wi.us/OpenEnrollment. If you are applying for open enrollment, the application after April 30, please contact Sharon Rentmeester at (920)662-7713 for assistance. 

 The Open Enrollment form is separate from the 4K Registration (both forms must be completed.
